Naturescaping Basic Workshop (4 hours)

Learn how to design your landscape to reduce water use, decrease stormwater runoff and improve habitat for local birds, wildlife, and you! We will explore the core concepts of naturescaping, pollution prevention, and introduce attendees to watershed connections, native plant identification and site planning principals. Participants get to view before and after naturescaping examples, get native gardening & design tips, and take a field trip to a nearby project to see naturescaping principles in action. Every participant receives a comprehensive workbook and a native plant to help them get started. Register now!

Site Planning Workshop (4 hours)

In this advanced workshop, you will learn how to evaluate a property and prepare a site plan employing naturescaping techniques. Through hands-on exercises you will learn how to map and measure your property, assess your garden style and needs, and work on a group design scenario. Participants must have attended the Basic Workshop first. Register now!

Site Planning Feedback Session (2 hours)

After attending Naturescaping Basics & Site Planning 1, and after some time spent working on your site plan, you may discover you need a little help with plant selection, hardscaping options, or water issues. In this interactive session, participants bring in their site plans and get personalized feedback from our landscape specialists. Email katie AT emswcd.org for scheduling and registration.

Rain Gardens 101 (4 hours)

Learn to construct your own rain garden! You will learn how to assess your site to determine the best location and size, calculate impervious surfaces, determine soil suitability, choose appropriate plants, and how to build and maintain your new rain garden. You will also receive a comprehensive rain garden manual, and where possible, take a field trip to a nearby rain garden. Register now!

Rain Garden Feedback Session / Maintaining Your Rain Garden (2 hours)

So you've installed your rain garden - that is terrific! Do you have any questions? Bring some before and after photos of your project and let us help you overcome any hurdles you may be experiencing such as maintenance, slope issues, set-backs, etc. Our landscape specialists will be on hand to answer any questions you have and provide sound, individualized advice based on years of experience.
