This part-time, temporary position supports the communication and collaboration of a large number of diverse groups working to control invasive species and educate the public as to their impacts on the ecosystem. The work ranges from organizational and clerical work to social dealings with partners and the public. The work requires a mix of communication skills, organizational/coordination skills, and computer technical skills including basic HTML. The ideal candidate has a flexible and helpful personality, an ability to work independently and is self-motivated, a strong attention to detail, and is knowledgeable about natural resource conservation issues - especially invasive species.

Type of Position: Temporary, Part-Time - Averages 8-10 hrs/wk.

Compensation: $12-15/Hr DOE

Position Title: CWMA (Cooperative Weed Management Area) Coordinator

Organization: Clackamas, Clark, Multnomah and Washington County CWMA http://www.4countycwma.org/

Organization's Mission: To create and support collaborative weed management among land managers and owners in and around the greater metropolitan area of Portland, Oregon.

Project Location: East Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District offices, 5211 N Williams Ave. Portland, OR 97217, with option of working remotely.

Transportation Information: Closest bus line (#44) passes in front of building. Biking: Williams Ave. is a one-way street with a bike lane. The building has enclosed bike parking and a shower.

Position Summary: The CWMA Coordinator will facilitate communication among 30 partners in the CWMA; assist with educational materials and events; and design, develop and manage its website.

General Responsibilities (to include, but not limited to):
1. Coordinate communications for the CWMA group: organize/forward correspondence; prepare agendas for bi-monthly meeting; and take/distribute meeting minutes.
2. Assist with the creation of education and outreach materials.
3. Represent the group at outreach events.
4. Take the lead on organizing our annual "Pull Together" meeting/mini-conference.
5. Design, develop and manage web content including text, images, calendar, and blog on Google Page Creator.
6. Complete and submit all necessary paperwork and reports in a timely manner.

Requirements:
1. Experience with electronic communication such as email, computer programs such as Google Docs and Google Page Creator (for web site), Word, and Excel.
2. Ability to get along with others, respecting diverse opinions and viewpoints.
3. Communicate and interact in a positive, professional manner with diverse individuals.
4. Ability to work independently.
5. Background in botany, biology, ecology, or related field; especially knowledge of invasive plants.
6. Familiarity with invasive species and their control.
7. Commitment to the goals of the CWMA.
8. Working knowledge of web site design, development, and maintenance.
9. 18 years of age or older.
10. U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident.
