Strategic Plan 2008 (6.2 MB)
The board of the East Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District is made up of five elected individuals representing three zones of the east county and two “at-large” positions. Current expertise on the board includes farming, stream restoration, weed management, forestry, wildlife ecology, and many years of SWCD experience.
Given our diverse district population of dense urban area, outlying agriculture, and open spaces we offer a mix of programs to protect and enhance our farms, wild lands, and forests as well as enhance conservation in the urban centers. We also acknowledge that the activities of our region may change dramatically as the price of oil skyrockets, more farmland is turned into condos, and more people pack tighter into our district. We think a key component of our operation as we press forward is to continuously monitor our progress and stay educated on the most pressing issues.
With this in mind, we have outlined our programs and staff positions that will fulfill this objective below. This has been a several year process involving lots of tough questions, hours of meetings, and a forecast of how best to spend taxpayer money to conserve our district’s soil and water. We think we are on the right track and are committed to continually improving our operations.
